I'm just one mommy trying to raise 2 kids
This is my Journey from career woman, to stay at home mom, back to career woman and finally back to stay at home mom.
When My daughter Samantha Jean was born I decided to take an extended leave from my teaching position. When my leave neared its end at 24 weeks I knew I just couldn't hand her over to a stranger to care for her. My husband and I made the decision to extend my leave and allow me to stay home to raise our baby girl. It wasn't long before unrest started to set in. I went back to work when she was 14 months old. She began to get ear infections and I questioned the care she was receiving. I soon got pregnant with my son. I decided to go back to work for a few months to help out financially and that was intended to be a six month stint. Turned out I ended up in a wonderfully distinguished school, number one in my district. I stayed home with my son (and daughter for seven months). We had a family friend come and stay with my son and we sent my daughter to a private preschool where she thrived- for a while (more on that later). When my son reached 18 mos we enrolled him in the same school. He immediately began to get sick all the time. After 52 missed days at daycare/ preschool due to illness, I'd had enough. So I decided to stay home with him and help build his immune system back up. I love being at home this time and feel that this time it is a God thing and this is where I am supposed to be. Jake is healthy, off all of his medications including his nebuelizer.
So now Jake and I spend the days together. The teacher in me looks for the teachable moments in the day the mom in me treasures the cuddly moments each day.
